A BOOK CLUB

Early Bird - the book club is a project created especially for children, with the main objective to connect them to their favourite form of communication - Storytelling!

Our program is developed at schools in two different formats: as an extracurricular activity throughout the school year, or during school holidays.

Can we create a new cover for a book? Who is the author behind a story? Can we make artistic productions, inspired by the book's fantastic illustrations? Where are the limits to a team of Early Birds?

In our Book Club, our little Birds disconnect from the rush of their day and quietly listen to a story. Our mission is to offer our Birds the opportunity to use their imagination and creativity wings, through fun activities, within their buddies Club.

STORYTELLING

PLAY BASED ACTIVITIES

ENGLISH

Storytelling is the oldest form of teaching, it creates magic and a sense of wonder at the world. Stories teach us about life, about ourselves and about others.

Early Bird - the book club, has a unique selection of titles and authors to share with its young Birds. Together, we celebrate, books and authors during the sessions in our nest.

Children will engage in multi-sensory play, and enrichment activities to extend the themes of books.

Visual Arts, Language, Music, Role Play and Drama will be part of our Club and will allow our Birds to improve their communication skills while having lots of fun!

All our activities are developed in the English language. We do not intend to teach English, rather potentiate the Birds' skills, and create an English environment rich in communication.

OUR BIRDS

SPECIES THAT ARE BORN WITH WINGS, BUT CANNOT FLY, ...YET!

Our Birds have a true passion for stories.

They will belong to a Club, specially designed for them, and engage in playful moments where essential skills, such as listening to others, sharing, teamwork, imagination, creativity, problem-solving, and well-being will be promoted.

They will become book experts while having fun together.

The little Birds will soon grow wings and fly out of our nest.

WHO ARE WE

Our founder, Teresa Salema, passionate about Education, books and each child´s uniqueness, has a wide experience in teaching English to Early Years children. Her professional background has led her to start her program and combine teaching English with a groundbreaking, fun, pedagogical, and effective extracurricular activity - a book club!

OUR BIRDS IN ACTION

The first school to welcome our project was PaRK International School, at their Praça de Espanha Campus. We develop our sessions with two groups of birds and listen to various stories while promoting different social and emotional skills during the sessions - self-knowledge, empathy or ethics, creativity, confidence, teamwork, among others. Filled with the sense of belonging to a group, it is through reading a story that we explore and develop, together, activities and games that aim to create unique moments of learning.
